Turtle Creek Elementary School fifth graders in Mrs. Minton’s class teamed up with their second-grade buddies in Mrs. Schleden’s class to make rice wreaths together.
In the project, students learn to follow directions, use visual cues and body language, as well as be precise with their vocabulary in order to help each other.
Fifth grade students need to choose their words correctly in order to give instructions or assistance. Second grade students need to choose their words correctly in order to be understood or to kindly correct a fifth grade student.
Students also learn to listen to one another for to consider another way of doing things as their initial approach may not be as efficient, creative or effective as their buddies.
