DELAVAN — Delavan-Darien High School soon-to-be juniors Alison Pickel and Anthony Welch joined their peers from 235 other Wisconsin and Upper Michigan high schools June 15-17 at the annual Wisconsin Leadership Seminars at Carroll University in Waukesha.
The conference is in its 34th year of offering free leadership development to students who show leadership and teamwork skills.
Wisconsin Leadership Seminars, Inc. (WILS), is a statewide volunteer organization that identifies outstanding high school sophomores throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan and provides them with the opportunity and encouragement to recognize their leadership potential.
Pickel and Welch met the conference requirements of WILS by demonstrating their ability to be responsible citizens in their school and community.
At the conference, leadership development is encouraged through emphasis on four pillars: responsibility, service, diversity, and sound decision-making.
The high-energy weekend consisted of team-building activities, motivational speakers, community service, a talent show, speaker panels of key leaders from various industries, small group discussions, and more.
