Karen Cano, daughter of Jóse and Margarita Cano and Courtney Flood, daughter of Pat and Kristi Flood, were selected as the Delavan Rotary Club students for the month of May.
Karen was active in the art club as its president, the international club, D-DHS bands (flute section leader), D-DHS symphony orchestra, pit orchestra for the “Cats” musical and the graduation committee. She was also a member of the National Honors Society, serving as its secretary. Karen actively volunteers as a tutor at the Dream Center, is an Aram Public Library volunteer, helps with the kids choir at her church and with the Fit Kids Club program at Turtle Creek Elementary. After high school, Karen plans to attend UW-Whitewater and pursue a career in music education and Spanish.
Courtney participated in basketball, tennis, and soccer as a varsity player all four years of high school. She was a varsity club member as well as a member of the National Honor Society. Courtney volunteered with the Athletic Booster Club, the Comet Classic and youth basketball camp. After high school, Courtney plans to attend UW-Madison to study engineering or biological sciences.
As recipients of this award, Karen and Courtney were escorted by an administrator at D-DHS, to the Rotary Club luncheons at Lake Lawn Resort every Monday during the month of May.
