“Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened.”
The motto for the Delavan-Darien High School Class of 2011 shone through Thursday night (June 9) as 164 graduates walked the stage to receive their diplomas and take the next step in the journey of life.
Sarah Miller was class valedictorian. Alana Cesarz was the salutatorian.
The class had nine members entering into the U.S. Armed Forces. Many will go on to study at universities, colleges or technical schools. Others will join the workforce.
They’ll start families, become successful in careers, defend this country, and grow into adults ready to do anything with the power of a Delavan-Darien High School diploma.
More than $128,000 in local scholarship were given to graduates. Another $630,000 was awarded in specific college or corporate scholarships from outside of the area.
The money will support these graduates financially, but they’ll continued to be supported by the friends they’ve made, the teachers they have, the families who stand behind them and the DDHS education bestowed upon them.
Congratulations, Class of 2011. We know you’ll make us proud.
