Destination Imagination (DI) is a competitive, creative problem-solving program that has been in the Delavan-Darien School District for many years, either as DI or Odyssey of the Mind (OM).
The program is open to all students — kindergarten through grade 12 — who have an interest in creative problem solving or wish to express their creative talents, whether artistic, dramatic, or mechanical. Students in teams of five to seven create unique solutions to fun challenges and present them in a series of tournament situations.
For the last few years, DDHS has had a powerful team, regularly advancing to the State level.
This year, DI coordinators are looking to have even more teams. While there are challenges that deal with scientific and technical building skills, we are most interested in forming teams using Improvisational acting skills and students interested in working on a real challenge in the community.
