Fifth graders at Wileman Elementary School once again participated in Colonial Days.
“It is a good way for kids to learn what life was like during this time period of important American history”, said fifth grade teacher Laura Brellenthin.
Fifth graders dressed up in Colonial dress, with long dresses and aprons for the girls and breeches and long shirts for the boys.
Throughout the day they participated in activities, including soap carving, tin punching, stenciling and calligraphy, and they played Colonial games such as hopscotch, bowling, arm wrestling, pick up straws and blindman’s bluff. They even made their own butter and enjoyed it on freshly baked bread.
It was a great learning experience and fun was had by all!
