The Delavan-Darien High School Cheerleading Team placed 17th out of 38 teams in its division at the Universal Cheerleaders Association National High School Cheerleading Championships. They finished just five points away from competing in the semi-final round, coach Ashley Sheppard said.
The UCA Championships is considered the most prestigious cheerleading competition in the country. The event was held Feb. 11-12 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. It will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2 to more than 100 million homes and 32 countries, according to the UCA website.
