Besides Delavan-Darien student artwork being on display at area libraries throughout March, one student’s work was on display in New York City.

Phoenix Middle School seventh grader Harim Cano had a drawing of his selected to be part of a large, public slideshow celebrating the fact that March is Youth Art Month. Cano’s drawing of a soccer goalie making a save was on display as part of the National Art Education Association’s national convention in New York City.

Harim’s artwork was one of about 900 student pieces shown on a giant, 30-foot-by16-foot outdoor LED billboard on the building that housed the convention. The display was in the heart of the Manhattan, on 6th Avenue between 29th and 30th streets, and recognized the work of students around the country.

The looping slideshow showing the student artwork was on display for several hours during art educator’s conference March 2 and March 3.

Harim’s piece, titled “I Finally Got It” was also selected for publication in the Southern Lakes Anthology.
