String Choir performs at hospital’s remembrance ceremony

Violin, orchestraDelavan-Darien High School musicians were out in the public performing once again, this time at a very special occasion.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, Orchestra Director Jennifer Bayerl took the DDHS String Choir (a small ensemble of musicians) to the Aurora Lakeland Medical Center’s Love Lit Ceremony.

The ceremony is an opportunity for individuals to honor family, friends and loved ones who have passed away.

A donation of $5 for each light is given in honor or memory of a loved one. Bulbs can also be purchased in honor or memory of men or women in military service. Proceeds help fund the hospital’s our wig program, it’s Healthy Kids Club, scholarships and a hospitality cart.

“It was a real honor,” Bayerl said of attending the ceremony. “The students were so touched by the experience and I know their presence meant a lot to the attendees.”
