The photos don’t show the true sound of what about 100 wind and percussion instruments can produce, but they do give a glimpse into the fun and excitement of the University of Wisconsin Varsity Marching Band performance at Delavan-Darien High School this past Sunday, Jan. 27.
An estimated 600+ visitors of all ages came to see the family-friendly show. Kids danced and played in front of the seats like nobody was watching. UW Band members polka danced with audience members The crowd stood and sang along to the time-honored “Varsity.”
It wasn’t a sellout crowd, but it was a great fundraiser for the Delavan-Darien Band Boosters, which support music instruction within the district.
It was also a great preview to the UW Varsity Band concert season, which is highlighted by the ever-popular spring concert inside the Kohl Center on the UW-Madison campus.
