Nine Delavan-Darien students will have their work represented in the 2013 Southern Lakes Anthology collection.
The Southern Lakes Anthology is a writing and art contest for third through eighth graders. Entries are submitted and judged at the district level. From there, they go to the regional-level judging in Elkhorn to compete against their peers from other area school districts in the Southern Lakes region.
Nine of the district’s 24 entries were selected for the anthology from the regional contest, including:
Phoenix Middle School
- Sean Seitz, sixth grade
- Elizabeeth Sirkman, sixth grade
- Katelynn Riviere, sixth grade
- Rachel DeBow, seventh grade
- Jose Valades, eighth grade
Darien Elementary School
- Cole Schmidt, fifth grade
- Taylor Ritchey, fifth grade
- Leah Hamell, fifth grade
Turtle Creek Elementary School
- Mark Hernandez, fourth grade
These students will be honored at a reception this May at the Irving Young Auditorium on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus.
They will receive a copy of the commemorative anthology book at the reception. The book contains all of the award-winning works of students from across the region.
Students can submit works of prose, poetry, illustrated writing, artwork or cartoon drawings.
