To add to Darien Elementary School’s celebration of Dr. Seuss Day, Mrs. Lori Thorson’s fifth grade had the opportunity to explore the characteristics of a substance that contains properties of both a solid and a liquid….OOBLECK!

This slimy material is based off the story Bartholomew and the Oobleck, by Dr. Seuss.

Students did a variety of tests including a quick finger vs. slow finger poke, conformity test, pour test, a bounce test, and a shatter test.

It was messy, exciting adventure, in the name of science and good books!
