The Delavan-Darien School District is planning a transition night for all 4-year-old kindergarten (pre-school) students who will be in regular, 5-year-old kindergarten in the fall of 2013.
The one-hour event is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Wileman Elementary School (1001 E. Geneva Street, Delavan). All parents and children who will be in kindergarten in the fall of 2013 are welcome to attend. Childcare will be provided so bring the siblings along, too!
Parents and students will start with a 15-minute assembly in the gym to learn about the district’s new Investigations math curriculum and Journeys reading curriculum. Other key concepts about kindergarten will then be covered and the Delavan-Darien staffers will be introduced.
Students will get to take a mini reading lesson, and all can learn about summer learning enrichment opportunities, including things parents can do with their child in home or out, such as at the library, 4-H, the Preschool for Creative Learning, Delavan-Darien’s summer school program or through the city’s Park and Recreation Department.
Parents will also have time to register their child for kindergarten and have their questions answered by Delavan-Darien staffers.
