They’re not old enough to vote, but they’re old enough to understand the importance of our nation’s capital city, Washington D.C.
Sixteen students from Phoenix Middle School, chaperoned by staff members Jessica Rima, Shaina Sepulveda and Kris Meyer, left for Washington D.C. at 4 a.m. Monday, June 11, and returned Wednesday, June 13.
In that short time, students toured the Capitol Building, Mt. Vernon, the Library of Congress, several of the Smithsonian museums, Ford’s Theater, and many memorial sites, including the Lincoln, Jefferson, Vietnam, Korean, World War II, Martin Luther King Jr., FDR and Iwo Jima Memorials. They also went to Virginia to see Arlington National Cemetery and the 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon.
