And, they’re off.
Day one of 180 school days for the 2013-14 was Tuesday, Sept. 3. The staff at the Delavan-Darien School District is excited to welcome all returning and new students for what’s shaping up to be an excellent school year.
The first day of course was filled with familiarization of the buildings, rules and expectations we have for our students.
We hope all students are shining examples of our Comet Code: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. And of course, we want them all to Be Learners!
There is a lot in store this school year. New Chromebooks and iPads are coming for all of our students. We’re working on improving our curriculum, particularly in the core subject areas at elementary and middle school levels. Special education, reading instruction and English Language Learner instruction will be done differently with those “specials” teachers coming into the regular classroom more often to “team-teach.” We’re also focusing on building a new Dual-Language Immersion program set to launch next year which will build our students’ language skills and have them be truly bilingual at a young age!
It’s a very exiting time to be a part of the Delavan-Darien School District. We’re glad you’re with us.
