Darien Elementary PTO has busy month

Darien_EagleThe staff at Darien Elementary School gave a shout-out to it’s Parent-Teacher Organization for all the work it has done in the first half of this school year.

Here’s a sampling of what was done, in a letter from the Darien teachers:

• We would like to start by thanking all our families that sent in box tops for the month of November. We collected 5,187 box tops! Our goal was 5,000! As a reward to our students, PTO put together a special treat for the students. On Friday, December 13th, students and staff participated in a pajama day and watched a video reading of “The Polar Express.” They were each given a bag of popcorn and chocolate milk. When they left they got a special bell. Ask your child why that bell is important!

• We also had our Papa Murphy’s pizza fundraiser. We would like to thank Papa Murphy’s of Delavan for hosting this fundraiser for us! THANK YOU!! Also, thanks to all the families that participated in the event. It was great not to cook dinner for a night.

• At our October book fair, we collected donations for books for the school library. We also used our scholastic dollars profit for the library. We were able to purchase $1,200 worth of new books for the library! We are so excited to continue building our great library.
