Tuesday, January 14, Marquette University Orchestra Director Dr. Jason Ladd lead a workshop with the DDHS Symphony Orchestra.

During the months of December and January the DDHS String Orchestra and Symphonic Winds have combined their efforts, creating the DDHS Symphony.

The students are working on great standard orchestral literature including the Finale from Mendelssohn’s fifth Symphony, Vaughn-Williams’ “Rhosymedre” and a medley of Duke Ellington favorites.

Dr. Ladd worked with the Symphony largely on the Duke Ellington work. He focused on listening skills and techniques. He also spoke with students about college life as a musician, successful musicianship and teamwork.

You can hear the results of the student’s hard work at the DDHS Winter Band and Orchestra Concert.

Concert Band, Symphonic Winds, String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra will be performing an exciting program of familiar works.

The concert will be Monday, January 20 at 7 p.m. in the Delavan-Darien High School Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Directors Nicholas Stark and Jennifer Bayerl and their students will be honored to share the evening with you!
