January Students of the Month winners announced

The January Students of the Month winners have been announced for DDHS. And the winners are (drumroll, please)…..

Junior Helen Bourgeouis and senior Jaciel Flores Correa. Also nominated was senior Brandon Bales.

Student winners will have their picture and a write-up in the display case by the auditorium. All nominated students will receive a letter home telling parents of the great job they are doing and a Comet Code T-shirt.

Here are the nomination letters from teachers:

Helen Bourgeois

Helen Bourgeois

“Helen comes to class every day well prepared and ready to work hard. She enjoys using Spanish in class, and she seeks to learn in every classroom activity – reading short excerpts in Spanish, practicing grammatical structures, speaking activities, listening practices, whatever the task may be. She comes in to ask questions, and she is very willing to help her classmates if they need something.

“I have enjoyed every minute of being her teacher, and I look forward to watching her continue her studies this next semester and in Spanish 4 next year. It is my pleasure to nominate her for Student of the Month.”

~ Ms. Liz Lieske Evans, Spanish Teacher DDHS

Jaciel Flores Correa

Jaciel Flores Correa

“Jaciel joined the class midway through first semester and greatly impressed me with his work ethic. He a student in the room who I knew I could call on at any time during class and he would be at the right spot, have the correct answer and be willing to share. He worked hard and studied to keep an excellent grade in the class. Students wanted to sit next to him because he was very kind to everyone and he was very helpful if students had questions. He came to class every day with a positive attitude and smile.”

~ Ms. Julie Quartucci, Social Studies Teacher DDHS

Brandon Bales

Brandon Bales

“Brandon is a natural leader in the classroom. He can sit down next to anyone and work with them and help them out. He is always willing to share his examples with the class and he will ask questions when needed. Brandon has lived in several different countries and in different parts of the United States. He is able to share his experiences from living in other parts of the world to help us understand other cultures on a more personal level. Brandon’s positive attitude sense of humor is much appreciated by his teachers and classmates. He enjoys learning and it shows.”

~ Ms. Julie Quartucci, Social Studies Teacher DDHS
