More than a dozen Delavan-Darien High School musicians will compete in the Wisconsin School Music Association’s Solo and Ensemble Festival at UW-Whitewater Saturday, April 26.

The students qualified by competing at the regional Wisconsin School Music Association District Festival at Elkhorn Area High School on Saturday, March 8th.

Students who receive a “1*” rating in Class A qualify for the state event, which features some of the best young musicians in the state. Musicians can play a band or orchestra instrument, or sing vocally.

The DDHS band, orchestra and choir students performed the works they’ve been preparing for months leading up to the district festival.

WSMA adjudicators — mostly current or retired music teachers or instructors — rated each students’ performance.

DDHS Orchestra Director Jennifer Bayerl, DDHS Band Director Nick Stark and DDHS Choir Director Jim Larson are proud of their students for their work, not only making it to state, but also competing and performing well at the district Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Numerous students received top ratings for their solos and ensembles. Check out the final results below.
