On Thursday, March 6, 2014, 42 students from Delavan-Darien High School participated in the Mini-Business World Conference at George Williams College, sponsored by Kikkoman Foods.
Students were placed on teams with students from Elkhorn, Big Foot, Williams Bay, Badger, and Faith Christian to form corporations.
Once on teams, they elected a CEO, Vice President of Marketing, Vice President of Communications, and Vice President of Finance.
The students worked together to create business names, logos, mottos, product lines, and mission and vision statements. They also analyzed financial statements and made predictions based on trends for future sales and profits.
At the end of the day, the CEO’s from each company presented their corporations’ information to the entire group and the companies were judged on their overall performance.
Gold medal winners from Delavan included CEO Jacob Scheff and VP of Finance Alex Wojciechowski from Jigsaw Pizza; and VP of Communications Kylie Sawtelle and VP of Finance Harsh Mehta from EcoSport.
Silver Medals went to VP of Finance Alondra Castaneda and VP of Communications Alina Moreno from Lake Life and Co-VPs of Marketing Justin Sorg and Garlos Gomez from Vapor.
Bronze Medals were awarded to CEO Ricardo Mora, VP of Marketing Nathan Dorantes, and VP of Finance John Loomer from deMora Clothing and Co; VPs of Communications Kiana Schneider and Alex Murillo from USA Bars.
Winning students received trophies, ribbons, and shirts or book bags. All students who participated also received a $200 scholarship to Business World Camp this summer.
