Delavan-Darien Destination Imagination teams set for regionals at Badger

di_logo_verticalDELAVAN — More than two-dozen Delavan-Darien School District students — ranging from first grade through eighth grade at Turtle Creek Elementary School and Phoenix Middle School — will compete at the regional Destination Imagination Tournament hosted by Badger High School in Lake Geneva Saturday, March 22.

The four teams will start the day at 9 a.m. with a presentation on how Destination Imagination fulfills Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education.

Team challenges start immediately after that with an awards ceremony planned for 2 p.m. that afternoon.

Destination Imagination is a program in schools and colleges throughout the United States and 30 countries around the world. Teams of up to seven students choose a creative problem and compete locally, at the state level and worldwide.

DI encourages students to have fun, take risks, focus and solve challenges based on learning activities. All DI students engage STEM learning philosophies in creating their solutions to the challenges.

The challenge categories include: early learning, service learning, improvisational, fine arts, structural, scientific and technical.

The Delavan-Darien teams will compete against students from Beloit, Elkhorn, Footville, Lake Geneva, Orfordville, and Williams Bay.

Winners from the regional event have a chance to participate at the state-level later this spring. Winners from there have the opportunity to compete in the Global Finals in May.

Come out and see the amazing talents of our Delavan-Darien Destination Imagination students, and learn more about DI during this regional competition.
