DELAVAN — In an effort to improve the school-to-home relationship that exists between students, educators and parents, the Delavan-Darien School District and CESA 2 are offering a free “Understanding Child and Adolescent Behavior” parenting session on Thursday, May 1, at Phoenix Middle School, 414 Beloit St., Delavan.
The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and includes a keynote speaker, three breakout sessions, a pizza and salad dinner and free childcare. The event is open to any parent wanting to learn more about improving their relationship with their child or children.
To start the event, Licensed Behavior Analyst Mahin Para-Cremer (M.E.D., LBA, BCBA) will present a keynote address on the “Power of Attention.”
Visitors can also choose to attend one of three breakout sessions:
- Parenting the Elementary Child, with Delavan-Darien elementary school psychologist Kori Pehkonen;
- Parenting the Child with Challenging Behaviors, with Vikee Loudon, PhD., retired Delavan-Darien school psychologist;
- The Power of Attention – Part 2, with Mahin Para-Cremer, Behavior Analyst, M.E.D., LBA, BCBA.
“This event will be useful to any parent who wants more ideas on how to work with their child or children,” said Delavan-Darien Pupil Services Director Sara Halberg, Ed.D. “Parents will be offered tips and strategies for helping them with behavior for children, from toddlers through adolescents.”
Free childcare will be provided during the event so children are welcome to come, too. Spanish interpreters will also be available.
