Dear Delavan-Darien High School parents and students,

It is with great regret and sadness that we inform you that one of our DDHS teachers has passed away.

Business education teacher Carrie Schuknecht died unexpectedly Wednesday morning (September 3) at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was 39. Ms. Schuknecht was a Class of 1992 graduate of Delavan-Darien High School and has been a teacher here since 2011.

We will inform staff and students about funeral service arrangements when known.

We understand this is difficult and sad news for many students who knew Ms. Schuknecht and had her as a teacher and mentor. She certainly was excellent at her craft and we are all mourning her loss together as a DDHS family.

If your student needs support, please inform them that counseling services will be offered in the DDHS Student Services office starting at 7:15 a.m. They are welcome to stop by at any time. Our student services secretary can be reached at 262-728-2642 ext. 4411.

Thank you for your support as together, as Comets, we all cope with this tragic loss.

Principal Mark Schmitt
