The Delavan-Darien School District has once again opened the renovated high school fitness center and weight room to district residents.
The facilities are open for public use —Delavan-Darien community members ages 18 and older — on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:10 p.m. until 6:10 p.m.
Passes for now (Sept. 17) through January 21 are available for $50. Later sign-ups will be charged a pro-rated rate.
A photo ID is required upon sign-up and entrance to the facilities.
The equipment in the fitness center and weight room was renovated a few years back as a result of the school district receiving a $1 million Carol White Physical Education Program Grant. Much of the new equipment is made by the Cybex company, which provides equipment for professional sports leagues including the NFL and NHL.
In addition to the weight room, which has a wide variety of weight machines and free weights, the cardio room and group fitness rooms will also be open for use. The cardio room has treadmills, Spin bikes, Elliptical machines and much more. The padded-floor group fitness room has balance balls, yoga mats and other equipment to complete a total-body workout.
Public users should enter the school through the south doors on the side of the school nearest the football field. There will be NO public locker room access.
Sign-up for facility use by stopping in during the open times (3:10 p.m. until 6:10 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays). Cash or checks are accepted. For more information contact DDHS Physical Education Teacher Sandee Ortiz at 262-728-2642 ext. 4454.
