Destination Imagination ready to kick off for 2014-15

di_logo_verticalCalling all creative students! It is once again time for Destination Imagination (DI) to start. Every fall, we offer students of the Delavan- Darien School District the opportunity to join DI.

We will be having a parent/student informational meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30th, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the School Administration Center (SAC) located at 324 Beloit St Delavan, WI 53115. The meeting will take about one hour and will include both an informational presentation as well as a question an answer session.

Destination Imagination (DI) is a non-profit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization. Its purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, DI offers seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning.

There are six new competitive Challenges to choose from each year. Each Challenge has a different area of focus. The areas of focus include: Technical, Scientific, Structural, Fine Arts, Improvisational and Service Learning. There is also a non-competitive Early Learning Challenge that allows participants to develop social and problem solving skills.

The DI team itself meets after school, beginning in September and ending when students are done competing in their tournaments.

Tournament dates are as follows:

  • Regional Tournament held in Lake Geneva WI, March 21, 2015;
  • State Tournament is in Stevens Point WI, April 18, 2015 (only if the team advances)
  • Global Final’s are held in Knoxville TN. the week of May 18th (only if teams advance)
