Dakota Millard, on right, a DDHS Class of 2006 grad, is a sawyer for the Wyoming Hotshots, a wild fire fighting crew for the U.S. Forestry Service. Millard is part of a team of about 20 and is responsible for falling trees to help control the spread of wild fires in the Western U.S. This photo with Millard and members of his crew was taken after a wild fire in Northern California earlier this summer. He graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 2011 with degrees in Wildlife Management and Biology. His family says DDHS provided the foundation for his work ethic, drive and motivation to do this difficult, dangerous and life-saving job. The photo, taken by Hotshots crew member Kyle Miller was featured on the National Geographic’s Daily Dozen website on October 1. The site is a collection of the magazine editor’s favorite photos.
