It what has been a longstanding tradition at Wileman Elementary school, first graders made Stone Soup in the classroom today (Nov. 25).
The students read the story “Stone Soup” by Marcia Brown. It is about some soldiers who are hungry and stop in a village to get some food. The villagers are very poor and don’t want to share the little food that they have. The soldiers trick the villagers into making soup from a stone!
Mr. and Mrs. Dahl came into help Mrs. Peyer’s and Mrs. Kelnhofer’s class peel and cut up the vegetables that go into our stone soup. The smells fill the classrooms and the students and their supervisors enjoy eating our soup in the afternoon.
Surely, parents appreciate the pre-Thanksgiving cooking lessons, too!
