The Delavan-Darien School District has identified 88 students who have been homeless at one point or another this school year.

Undoubtedly, some of them have stayed at Twin Oaks Shelter, the only transitional homeless shelter in Walworth County.

Community Action Inc., of Rock and Walworth Counties, which runs the shelter, is hosting a bowling fundraiser to support Twin Oaks.

“Strike Out Poverty” takes place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Lake Geneva Lanes (map). Tickets for this fun event are $10 per person and include two games of bowling and shoe rental. Lanes may also be reserved for five bowlers.

Volunteers are also being sought to work at the event. Help is needed with registration, selling raffle tickets, running other fun kids games and more. Contact Community Action if you’d like to volunteer: (608) 313-1300.

Volunteers can also take pledges from individuals looking to help low-income families in our community. Prizes are available for the top fundraisers. Download a pledge form if interested.
