DELAVAN — The Delavan-Darien School District Board of Education is seeking one interested community member to serve on the school board as an appointee.
Applicants must reside within district boundaries in the City of Delavan. The appointed seat will be up for election in April 2016.
The appointee will fill the seat vacated by Vanessa Anaya, who stepped down after buying her dream home in Lake Geneva. School board members must live within district boundaries.
At Monday’s school board meeting, Superintendent Robert Crist thanked Anaya for her service. He said Anaya explained that she could not pass up the opportunity to buy the home she had long wanted.
Anaya was elected to the post in April in an unopposed election. She was the school board’s first Hispanic member.
Interested persons in filling the vacancy must submit a letter of interest that includes statements about what qualities the candidate will bring to the board, the issues the candidate believes the district is facing and how the candidate proposes to address those issues. The Board of Education will review the letters to determine who will be interviewed.
Letters must be received by 3 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015, and should be mailed to: “Board Vacancy,” 324 Beloit St., Delavan, WI 53115.
