Early on in the school year, Wileman Elementary School’s second graders expressed an interest in the fine arts, specifically singing, dancing and acting.
They began this journey with fluency practice using reader’s theater. Halfway through the year, this grew into a desire to do a class play or musical.
On June 4, the second graders performed the play “Character Matters.”
This tongue-and-cheek comedy centered around fairy tale characters who are seeking answers from an advice council. The characters learn lessons such as “the golden rule” and being honest.
Students were able to apply the Comet Code as they had to work together and be responsible for their part in this play.
The play was a complete success and will be forever etched into these students’ minds as “the year of the great second grade musical!”
