The music website filmsoundtrackcenter.com recently caught up with DDHS Class of 2006 graduate Jesi Nelson, who is a composer for film and media.
Nelson talks about her inspiration for her career, how she goes about scoring a film, her composing styles and more.
On her website, Nelson has listed composer credits for short films, animated short films and video games. There are also some samples of some pretty amazing work.
Her website bio states:
Jesi Nelson is a Los Angeles based composer for film & media, conductor and orchestrator. She received her BFA in Music Composition and Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition for the Screen at Columbia College. She has done music programming and performance for the former Director of the program at Columbia College, David McHugh, as well as other various jobs such as score preparation and sampling instruments for composer Andrew Edwards. Most recently she interned for Danny Elfman at Studio Della Morte. She is currently assisting composer Penka Kouneva and co-hosts a podcast that celebrates film music.
Keep it up, Jesi. You’ve made us #DDCometProud!
