On Thursday, Nov. 5, the DDHS Orchestra attended the Marquette University High School Orchestra Festival.
Orchestras from 16 Southeastern Wisconsin schools performed at the event.
The DDHS Orchestra performed for Dr. Frank Diaz, Associate Professor of Music Education at University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.
Dr. Diaz worked with the Orchestra in their hour long session, focusing largely on style and bow use. The Orchestra’s work with Dr. Diaz has helped members prepare for their performance at the upcoming All District Orchestra Concert to be held at DDHS on Nov. 12.
The Orchestra students also listened to Milwaukee Public School’s Rufus King High School Symphony Orchestra, they toured the Haggerty Museum of Art and had lunch at the Alumni Memorial Union among MU students.
At lunch, they even met up with a DDHS Grad, Sarah Hardwick, and messaged with DDHS Grad Vanessa Rosales, as she sent photos from the class she was attending at the time.
