FROM WAY DOWNTOWN!!!!
We are #DDCometProud of our boys basketball team’s effort in a huge win last night (87-47) over Big Foot.
The team set a school record with 17 3-pointers made in a game, which surpassed the mark of 16 set last year. The previous record was 12.
Also, senior Lucas De Lara set the individual record of 3s made in a game by sinking nine from beyond the arc. Fitting that he wears No. 3! The previous record of eight 3-pointers was set in 1994-95 by Mike Mabry and was tied in the last couple of seasons by Isiah Ramos.
Coach Bob Beighton said the night was something special.
“We were just trying to score more than the other guys and we got hot. The kids found the guy who was the hottest and that was Lucas last night. The gym was charged up.”
Beighton hopes the hot shooting continue as the post-season is just around the corner.
“The three is always something other teams have to defend against us. We have a lot of good shooters. Now it’s just a matter of keeping the heat going and moving forward into the payoffs.”
