Wileman, Turtle Creek and Darien elementary schools each had a “Career Day” this year and the students at each wanted to send a huge “Thank You” to our guest presenters:

David Markely and Brad Schroeder, Police Liaison Officers for the Delavan-Darien School District; Steven Harvey, Lawyer; Nick Hooyman and Robert Westphal, Engineers; John Scherer, Retired Air Force pilot; Michelle Turner, Retired Turtle Creek 4th Grade Teacher; Lisa Wang, Nurse Practitioner; Dr. David Chapman, Veterinarian; April O’Neil, Veterinarian Technician; Robert Ludowise and Jennifer O’Neil, Delavan Fire Department; Justin Schuenke, Darien Fire Department; Dr. Albert Zambito, Dentist; and Kelly Moralez, Chiropractor.

Each of these volunteers helped our fourth- and fifth-grade students have a fabulous and rewarding Career Day experience. Career Days were Thursday, Feb. 25, for Wileman Elementary School; Friday, Feb. 26, for Turtle Creek Elementary School and Tuesday, March 29, for Darien Elementary School.

The students enjoyed hearing about the different careers and how the work of adults relates to the work the students do in school.

It’s never too early or too late to have students thinking of what they want to do as a career in the future! We’re looking forward to next year’s Career Day!
