Current Delavan-Darien 4-year-old kindergarten students and their families are invited to a fun-filled 4K-to-5K Transition Night at Wileman Elementary School on Wednesday, May 11.
The evening starts at 5 p.m. and will feature a potluck dinner. Sub sandwiches will be provided by the district, and parents bring a dish to pass if they wish.
After meeting the Wileman Elementary School Principal Becky Schneider and the kindergarten staff, we’ll view a slide show of the fun times had while learning and playing in 4-year-old kindergarten school year. Afterward, the kids will get to participate in some exciting reading and math activities with their teachers.
Next school year, all 4- and 5-year old kindergarten students will be at Wileman Elementary together in this unique learning environment.
While students are interacting with their teachers, parents will get an overview of the “center school” model, which assigns elementary students to a school based on their grade and not location.
Staff and representatives from Dousman Transport Company (our bus provider) will be on hand to discuss the logistics and bussing set-up for our youngest students, who will have their own bus routes without older kids.
Parents can also learn about the monolingual curriculum and dual language curriculum offered in our classroom, as well as the on-site before-and after-school childcare options that will be available (for payment) right inside Wileman Elementary.
Kids and parents will also get a tour of Wileman Elementary, which will be designed with our littlest learners in mind. Students and parents can also tour a school bus to learn about bus ridership and safety.
If you have questions about the event, contact Wileman Principal Rebecca Schneider at 262-728-2642 ext. 4121.
