Eight Phoenix Middle School students will be attending Camp Badger Exploring Engineering at UW-Madison this summer.
Camp Badger is a one-week, residential program for Wisconsin and Minnesota teenagers entering 8th grade in the fall. As a camper, students explore many types of engineering fields and see how they can lead to great careers. They do so while living in a student dorm and experiencing life on a college campus.
The trip was made possible by The American Association of University Women, which awarded three full scholarships to Breanna Yartey, Collette Riviere and Morgan Lock so that they may attend Camp Badger Exploring Engineering this summer. Of the 50 girls who applied for a scholarship, our Phoenix Middle School applicants received three-out-of-twelve scholarships awarded.
In addition, five more Phoenix applicants received a scholarship directly through the University of Wisconsin-Madison program. These students include Allison Rosencrans, Desiree Green, Kathryn Pehkonen, Francheska Sandoval, and Naitaly Napodano.
